WTAP-TV Report on the Hall of Fame Banquet

*Mr. Alan Haught announcing the Bob Zide Scholarship Winner
*Some of the nearly 200 attendees.
*President Mollie Schramm presenting plaques to the Inductees.

There’s no one to thank more than the late Bob Zide. It was the dream of the sporting goods pioneer to have many from the Mid-Ohio Valley earn their day in the sun with this tremendous Hall of Fame. It started in 1998 and it has continued strong every since. The Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame is a wonderful thing. We have the late Mr. Bob Zide, a classy, classy gentleman, to thank.

The Display at the Grand Central Mall in Vienna WV

If you visit the Grand Central Mall occasionally you probably know that the MOVSHofF had showcases there displaying some of the plaques of past inductees into the Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame. The Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame has many inductees, so many that it has outgrown its showcase presence at the mall. Furthermore, the Grand Central Mall recently remodeled, adding new areas and allotting a wall for the Sports Hall of Fame presence. Key to the display is an 12 x 18 framed class picture for EACH of the MOVSHofF classes with names on the pictures. Current committee members who are inductees into the Hall of Fame are represented in the first row of plaques along with the plaque of Bob Zide whose idea it was to create this organization. Row 2 and 3 are the most recent classes inducted into the H of F. This is an exciting change. The completed wall is shown above. The MOVSHofF showcases are no longer on display. Plaques can still be viewed in the window at Zide’s Sport Shop in Marietta and within the two cases at the Parkersburg City Building. Thanks to all these businesses for allowing the presence of the MOVSHofF.
