He was named the Pioneer Valley Conference Coach of the year five times. In addition, he was a four-time Eastern District and two-time OVAC Coach of the Year honoree.
Other honors included being inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020. He earned the prestigious Ohio High School Boys Coaches Association Bob Arnzen Award, which goes to a coach who has devoted 20 consecutive years or more to the same school and for their loyalty and commitment to Ohio high school basketball (the late Arnzen is Ohio’s ninth all-time winningest boys basketball coach). In addition, Schwieterman was honored with the Ohio High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award in 2010.
