Jeff Burkhamer – Wood County

JEFF BURKHAMER (WOOD COUNTY)
Jeff Burkhamer had quite the athletic career at both Williamstown High School and Alderson Broaddus College. 

As a Williamstown Yellowjacket, Burkhamer starred on the basketball court as well as the football and baseball fields. On the court, he was a two-time Class AA First Team All-Stater in 1979 and 1980. He also earned First Team All-Little Kanawha Conference honors those two seasons and gained Honorable Mention in 1978. 
He helped Williamstown to a 40-6 record during his last two seasons as a basketball player. He was selected to the West Virginia High School All-Star game in 1980. In 2004, he was named the fourth-best player overall on the Parkersburg Area Silver Anniversary Team. 
In baseball, he was a three-year starter at second base was a Second Team All-State pick and First Team selection in 1978. In football, he was a starter at quarterback/safety three straight years, earning Special Honorable Mention All-State
In college, he started three years at point guard for the Battlers. He was the program’s all-time assist leader (646). He started four years in baseball. He was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame Class of 2001. 
Following college, he launched what would become a sensational basketball coaching career. Burkhamer served as the head coach at North Greenville College, Santa Fe Community College, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Lander University and the University of West Florida. He accumulated 493 victories and led his programs to many history-making accomplishments. He was also an assistant at Winthrop, Charleston Southern, Morehead State and Marshall. In addition, he worked for Grand Rapids in the Continental Basketball Association.
