SYDNEY SNODGRASS (RITCHIE COUNTY)A 2014 graduate of Ritchie County High School, Sydney Snodgrass made a name for herself on the golf links.
She wasa member of three straight All-Tournament teams during the state golf championships put on by the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission, making her the first female in state history to accomplish that feat. This came at a time when there wasn’t a girls-only State Tournament. She scored the lowest nine-hole score in state history with a 28.
Following high school, Snodgrass headed for the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) on a golf scholarship. With the Blazers, Snodgrass earned the Conference USA women’s golfer of the week twice.
She recorded her first collegiate title at the USA Spring Invitational. She was named to the Conference USA All- Academic Team both as a junior and senior, becoming the first two-time member in program history. She also earned the C-USA Academic Medal. As a junior, she was a Third Team All-Conference pick and earned All-Tournament at the C-USA championship event.
Her accomplishments have proven to be an inspiration for many young female golfers over the past several years.
